Some patients begin their program with constipation and others may experience constipation during the program. Below are some ways to help eliminate constipation and promote regular bowel movements. Steps 1 – 3 should be done regularly as an ongoing basis. To help relieve constipation, start at step 4 and work your way down the list. Give each step approximately a week before moving on to the next step. Contact someone from our team for any questions or further instructions.

  1. Water. Drinking half your body weight in fluid ounces will help with having regular bowel movements.
  2. Exercise. This helps to get your bowels moving.
  3. Flax or other Fiber. Adding flax seed, avocado, or possibly psyllium husk to your daily diet will help promote regular bowel movements.
  4. Magnesium (Calm Powder). Purchase Vitality Calm (unflavored) from the internet or a grocery store and take 2 – 4 rounded teaspoons daily. Start with 1 tsp and work your way up to 4 tsp if needed.
  5. Saltwater. Mixing 1 tablespoon of pink Himalayan Salt with 8 ounces of warm water, and drinking it as quickly as possible first thing in the morning.
  6. MCT Oil. You can increase your MCT oil by 1 tablespoon per day first thing in the morning and eventually take up to 4 tablespoon daily.
  7. Senna Tea. This should be used as your very last resort. It is a harsh herbal tea laxative that will promote bowel movements.
