1.) We always recommend Organic coffee and tea due to the use of pesticides on the non-organic versions. Use your Keto Coffee recipe or Tea Latte (listed below). In its purest form it is a combination of grass-fed butter, coconut oil or MCT oil and organic coffee. This is very high in good fats and calories.
2.) For decaf, the coffee beans are stripped of caffeine in two different ways, either with chemicals or the Swiss Water Process. We recommend only drinking decaf that has been prepared via the Swiss Water Process. This is a very common process and most grocery stores carry this type of decaf coffee. It will be clearly marked on the package itself.
3.) We also recommend organic herbal tea.
Keto Coffee/Tea Latte:
8 ounces of freshly brewed organic coffee/tea
1 tablespoon of grass-fed butter or ghee
1 tablespoon of organic, virgin coconut oil or MCT oil
Optional Add-Ins:
full-fat organic coconut milk
unsweetened vanilla almond milk
vanilla extract
Brew your coffee/tea.. When that's finished, measure the grass-fed butter and coconut oil into a blender.
If you're just beginning to add grass-fed butter & coconut oil into your diet, you can certainly add a teaspoon or two and work your way up. Some people are sensitive to large amounts of coconut oil in the beginning.
Pour the coffee/tea into the blender, secure with the lid tightly and blitz for 20-30 seconds or until the coffee turns a creamy color and starts to froth a bit. You want the fats to emulsify and completely mix with the coffee/tea. Pour it into a mug (the top should be frothy) and drink immediately.
Note: Quality counts in this recipe. If you don't have access to grass-fed or pastured butter, omit it and instead double up on the organic, virgin coconut oil.
